Education Activities
It's no secret that China's recent admission to the World Trade Organization (WTO) will have significant impact on the nation's educational needs. China is now the leading nation sending students to the United States, and this position shows no sign of slowing. To prepare for China's increased need for international education, the first International Education Cooperation Week will be held in Beijing, Sept. 23-30, 2002.
The week kicks off with a three-day symposium designed to help establish long-term education policies between the United States and China. It is the first conference of its kind in China since the nation was accepted into the WTO. The event is cosponsored by Beijing's TOPEAK International Educational Investment Company, Ltd. and IEF Education Foundation. In addition to US representatives, attendees will include senior Chinese business leaders, managers, educators and government officials.
Other conference topics will address China's specific educational needs, as well as cooperation between US and Chinese educators. The group also will discuss the best way to integrate international educational systems between the two nations.
During the later part of the week, IEF will host the American Pavilion at TOPEAK's International Education Exhibition. The three-day education fair is expected to attract hundreds of school representatives from all over the world, including the UK, Australia and Japan.
