Spring Fairs in China, Taiwan and Korea

Eager to meet talented students from East Asia? Now it's easier than ever.

IEF is introducing a number of new features for its Spring 2002 American Education Fairs in China, Taiwan and Korea. Based on detailed client feedback, IEF proudly announces:

  • Reduced prices and savings incentives

  • More exhibition time - two days each in the tour's three largest cities of Seoul, Taipei and Shanghai

  • Longer daily exhibition hours at all venues, including Kaohsiung, Taichung and Nanjing

  • Dramatically enhanced marketing support

  • High-profile venues such as COEX in Seoul

Plus, the events are supported by the same benefits you've come to expect from these popular fairs. These include:

  • Exhibition booth and signage

  • Professional interpreter services

  • Representatives' welcome breakfast/luncheons

  • Orientation seminars with US embassy officials and local educators

  • Extensive local publicity

  • Listing in fair guides distributed to all visitors

  • Free insurance coverage while traveling abroad and at fair

  • One year's cyber-fair listing on IEF's AmericanEducationFair.com

Secure Solid Leads

IEF's student registration system allows you to secure detailed contact information for follow-up after each fair. Quickly and easily. That means you use the exhibition time to talk to students - while we collect the data.

Here's how it works: If you'd like to follow-up with a particular student, simply write down the identification number on their nametag. Provide that number to IEF. You'll receive from IEF detailed student information, including email addresses. It couldn't be easier.

Strong Promotional Support

All IEF American Education Fairs are supported by strong pre-fair promotional support in each market. These multifaceted marketing campaigns include paid advertisements; news coverage; prominent signage; and mailings to a variety of schools and opinion leaders. To ensure excellent fair attendance, we ensure:

  • Formal notification and participation of the US Embassy as well as American Institute in Taiwan

  • Poster and flyer distribution by Fulbright Commission

  • Posting on Fulbright Commission's website

  • Prominent publicity on leading TV, radio and newspaper outlets

  • Posters displayed at high schools, ESL programs, universities and Study Abroad Centers

  • Flyers distributed to thousands of students

  • Banner flags, billboards and sidewalk displays in high-traffic locations

  • Postings on Metropolitan Office of Education websites

  • Advertisements on UScampus.com's Taiwanese, Korean, US and Chinese websites

Taiwan, March 21-26, 2002

For more than a decade, IEF has sponsored successful student fairs in Taiwan. The Spring 2002 American Education Fair promises to continue the tradition.

Join us as we travel through Taiwan's important cities of Taipei, Kaohsiung and Taichung. As in past years, the event will be co-sponsored by the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT), which functions there as a US embassy.

AIT plays an active role in our fairs. At each event, officials brief school representatives on visas and other related issues. Fortunately, student visa approvals remain unchanged in Taiwan, despite the September 11 attacks. The AIT reported at IEF's fall fair that visa approvals are still running about 95-97 percent.

These fairs are highly publicized. Our fall event was featured in more than 36 news stories throughout Taiwan. This coverage included four full-page color supplements in newspapers such as China Post, China Times and MinSheng. All four major TV networks reported on our press conference. Extensive radio broadcasts were aired on ETFM and ICRT.

Some reasons for the success? We work closely with high schools, colleges and universities in Taiwan throughout the year to solicit support and suggestions. Our counselors hold monthly student briefing sessions at prominent locations throughout the year. And we often schedule special seminars on timely events.

For example, IEF held a panel discussion on the effects of Taiwan's entry into the WTO the day before the fall fair opening. This provided pertinent and newsworthy information to participants as well as Taiwanese educators, students and media representatives.

Seoul, Korea, March 29 - April 1, 2002

Korea offers excellent recruitment opportunities for US institutions. And the Spring 2002 American Education Fair in Seoul promises to be the show to watch.

IEF is pleased to announce this event will be held at the Korea Trade Fair's annual international education fair at COEX Seoul. Last year, this venue attracted nearly 40,000 Korean students and representatives from nations worldwide. The IEF contingency will be hosting the American Pavilion.

The US Embassy in Seoul provides outstanding support to these fairs. Last fall, for instance, officials provided school representatives with full briefings on security and visa issues. Additionally, the Fulbright Commission briefed US schools on how to post information and links in Korean for no charge.

In Korea, we understand the importance of building partnerships between local schools and US representatives. Last fall we arranged for attendees to visit Korea's leading women's university (Ewha) - and the nation's leading foreign language high school (Daewon). This allowed representatives to recruit directly from an audience overwhelmingly planning to study abroad. It also opened the door for future exchange programs with these distinguished schools.

This spring, we've arranged special Mini-Fairs with a 24-member association comprised of Seoul's leading foreign language high schools. This augments a two-day fair that promises to generate excellent recruitment opportunities. Meanwhile, we are eagerly cultivating new relationships with Korean middle schools to assist US private boarding- and high schools.

When you go with IEF as your Seoul American Education Fair organizer, you
are working with a partner that is American based and headquartered in southern California.

ICEO, the Study USA Tour certified fair organizer, is being supported in its Seoul Fair organization by its British Partner, NEXUS Media Ltd. We thank and salute you for making IEF your US partners in international student recruitment.  Learn more

China, April 2-7, 2002

The world's leading source of international students has become a prime recruitment target for many countries. IEF's strong knowledge of this complex nation makes it easier than ever to penetrate this market.

The Spring 2002 American Education Fair promises to be another successful event. As before, the fair is supported by the US and Chinese governments. The whirlwind tour features stops in Shanghai - China's largest city - and Nanjing - southern China's higher education center.

This is the first year IEF has brought US representatives to Nanjing. This thriving metropolis of nearly 3 million people is one of China's most important education centers. Especially strong in science and technology, Nanjing has more than 460 natural science research institutions.

Both cities promise to be well attended. Learn more
