2011 Summer Fairs in Northeast China


Rapidly Developing Region of Northeast China

Shenyang, Anshan and Dalian are the three mayor cities in Liaoning Province, located in the northeast region of China. With a total population of over 100 million, the region is the hub of heavy industrial development in China. It has shown tremendous growth in recent years, and is becoming one of the foremost industrial, commercial, and business centers in China. Liaoning province has a population of 43 million, with 800,000 students in 2,600 middle schools and 80 universities/colleges. The region has set the development of talent as a top priority for education. Based upon the greatly successful performance of the education exhibitions held in this region in the past three years, the region has a high growth potential in the area of international education.

-Shenyang The capital city of Liaoning province. Now the fourth largest city in China, it is connected by rail with all the major cities of Liaoning and with Beijing as well as North Korea. Shenyang is the leading manufacturing hub in a highly industrialized area, having one of the largest machine-tool plants in China. The city has 89 vocational junior and senior middle schools with 55,000 students, and 10 adult schools training 13,900 students annually. Shenyang also boasts 25 universities and colleges with 350,000 students.

-Anshan Located in central Liaoning Province. Anshan's huge integrated iron and steel complex is the largest in China. With a population of 3.6 million, Anshan has more than 38 thousand students in high schools, and 20 thousand students enrolled at local universities/institutions.

-Dalian Located on the east coast of Eurasia and the southern tip of NE China. It is a marine gateway, the chief commercial port of NE China, and an oil-exporting port. Dalian is also a major industrial center with large shipyards, fisheries, an oil refinery, textile mills, chemical and fertilizer plants. The city has 23 public institutions of higher education and 7 privately-run colleges. In Dalian, there are 231 thousand undergraduate and junior college students enrolled in institutions of higher learning (including vocational colleges).
