Historical Highlights

  • 1999 - IEF escorted one of the largest groups of U.S. school representatives ever to attend the Chinese Government's International Education Exhibition. More than 16 countries participated in the events in Beijing and Shanghai. However, IEF's American Pavilion attracted the most attention with more than 20,000 visiting the booth. Joining the U.S. contingency was an U.S. Department of Commerce representative.

  • 2000 - IEF began hosting annual American Education Fairs spring and fall at Beijing and Shanghai. The Chinese Ministry of Education and the U.S. Department of Commerce supported these events. To increase understanding of China's unique challenges, IEF arranged briefings for school representatives with U.S. Embassy personnel and Chinese officials.

  • 2001 - Due to the successful response, IEF has continued its spring and fall fairs at Beijing and Shanghai, with ShenZhen added as a new location.
